I love a good old fashioned favorites blog or YouTube video. I always find myself checking these blogs and videos out in search of new products to try. This blog is obviously not sponsored by any of these brands by the way. I’ve just been obsessing over the items on this list throughout the entire month of April, so I figured I’d share them with you on the blog.
If you’ve ever spent any amount of time with me at all, you probably know that I am obsessed with protein bars. I’ve basically lived off them since I was fifteen. Having celiac, I’ve learned that I always need to keep protein bars on me at parties, dinners, or really any event that involves eating because there’s usually a 75% I won’t be able to eat any of the food there. I just discovered Quest Hero bars for the first time in April though, and let me tell you, I’m hooked. Unlike normal Quest bars, the Quest Hero bars literally taste like candy. They’re not super chewy like the original kind.
My favorite flavor that I’ve tried so far has to be the Chocolate Caramel Pecan bar. Each bar only has 200 calories, so it’s perfect to keep in your purse for a little pick-me-up between meals or for a breakfast on the go. I also really like that these bars are super high in fiber. Each bar has 11 grams (an average woman needs about 25-30 grams a day btw). There’s also 15 grams of protein and only 4 net carbs, so the macros on these bars are pretty incredible. The only downside is that they’re kind of hard to find. I get mine from Publix, but they only sell them individually at my store. You can get them from Target online though in a four-pack for $7.99. If you have a Target near you, you could also try checking the store. There’s just a toll between my house and the nearest Target, so I don’t get out there in person often.
Recipe: Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookies
Since I’ve been trying to keep my diet really clean, curbing my sweet tooth has been a challenge for me. Luckily, I came up with this amazing peanut butter cookie recipe that’s been a total lifesaver. It’s super easy and only requires four ingredients. If you follow my blog, they probably look familiar because I posted the recipe on here last week. If you want to make these delicious cookies that only have 68 calories in each one at home, you can check out this blog post.
Skincare Product: Shaklee YOUTH Age Defense Mineral Moisturizer
In 2019, it’s important to not only protect your skin from the sun, but also from all the pollution and toxins in the air that can cause pre-mature aging. I’ve been using the Shaklee YOUTH Age Defense Mineral Moisturizer for a few years now on and off, but I started using it every single day this past month.
I love it because its a completely natural sunscreen, so you don’t need to worry about putting harmful chemicals on your skin that could cause cancer. This chemical-free SPF is made with naturally derived zinc oxide for UVA/UVB protection. Additionally, it also contains natural marine polymers that protect your skin from pollution in the environment. It even contains antioxidants and nourishing vitamins and oils that will actually reverse the effect of aging on your skin already, so it’s hard not to love this product! Beauty Product: Elf 16 hr Camo Concealer
Talk about a steal! This concealer is only $5 and it’s an amazing dupe for the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer (which is $27) that I’m also crazy about. This is by far the best $5 concealer I’ve ever tried. It has incredible coverage, just like the Shape Tape Concealer. If you’re looking for an affordable alternative, the Elf 16 hr Camo Concealer is the way to go. They have a wide shade range too, so you could probably play around with this product and use it as a liquid contour as well.
Clothing Item: Denim Jacket
I’ve basically been living in this denim jacket I got from Target. If it looks familiar to you, it’s probably because I already wrote about it a little bit in my Spring Fashion Staples blog post a few weeks ago. It’s the denim trucker jacket from the brand Wild Fable and I cannot stress enough just how comfortable it is.
It’s only $32, but it feels like really high-quality denim. It’s just the right amount of loose on the arms, so I don’t feel claustrophobic when I wear it over a sweater or something. I can pretty much pair it with any outfit and it just matches perfectly. If you’re looking for a great denim jacket this spring, I can’t recommend this one enough!
Podcast: The Skinny Confidential Podcast
I love finding good podcasts to listen to while I’m commuting to work. The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast is one of my all-time favorites that I just had to share with you guys in this blog. If you’re unfamiliar with The Skinny Confidential, I should probably explain that it’s a blog, brand, book, YouTube channel, and podcast created by Lauryn Evarts. She hosts the podcast alongside her husband, Michael Bostick, who’s a serial entrepreneur.
Between her beauty and lifestyle expertise and his vast knowledge about business, it’s a super informative podcast and I learn something new in each episode. They have the best guests on their show and talk about a broad spectrum of topics. From business to beauty to health, they’ve got you covered. Since I’ve started listening to this podcast, I feel like I’ve become so much more productive and motivated.
That pretty much sums up my April favorites! I hope you guys enjoyed this style of blog and found some new things you want to try out for yourself. Let me know if you’re already a fan of any of these items and also tell me what your April favorites are in the comments below!
