3 Different Ways To Make The Perfect Maca Smoothie

Over the past couple of months, I’ve heard so many fitness influencers and nutritionists talk about the benefits of maca powder. Apparently, it’s something you should try to integrate into your diet.

Since I’d literally never heard of maca powder before April, I did a little research for myself about the different health benefits of this Peruvian plant grown in the Andes mountains. Maca root can help balance your hormones, increase energy and endurance, improve mood, reduce blood pressure, help protect your skin from UV rays, promote natural antioxidants in your body, and improve your memory. I don’t know about you, but all this sounds pretty good to me, so when I saw Maca on sale at Home Goods in the checkout isle I just had to try experimenting with it in my smoothies.

Maca adds a surprisingly delicious flavor to smoothies. It smells a little bit like caramel and has a little bit of a caramel-ish flavor, but it’s a lot more bitter. It smells a lot better than it tastes, but it tastes pretty good inside of smoothies. I don’t recommend taking a spoonful of maca root alone though. It definitely tastes much better mixed inside a smoothie. I hardly notice it at all, but it has so many health benefits. Check out my three maca smoothie recipes I’ve tried so far!

#1. Berry Vanilla Smoothie

If you love the Starbucks Pink Drink, then you’ll love the Berry Vanilla Smoothie. However, unlike the Pink Drink, this smoothie isn’t loaded with a ton of sugar and it’s actually good for you! This smoothie has a ton of antioxidants and protein, which makes it a perfect alternative for your favorite Starbucks drink. Here’s what’s inside:

  1. 1-2 Cups of Water (depending on how thick you want your smoothie)
  2. 1/4 Cup of Frozen Mixed Berries

This one is also perfect for the girl on the go because you can actually blend this up the night before. Since it doesn’t have any frozen fruit, it won’t separate if you leave it in your fridge over night. Store it in a mason jar or water bottle and just shake it up a little before you drink it.

I can’t recommend the Slim Fast Keto Fudge Brownie Batter Protein Powder enough. It tastes super indulgent and mixes so well with almond butter and maca powder. Like the Almond Cake Batter Smoothie, you can also make the Chocolate Almond Smoothie the night before. There’s no frozen fruit, so all you need to do in the morning is shake it up and you’re good to go.
